In this role, you will play a significant role in facilitating communication between Karenni and English speakers across the globe. You will be responsible for processing information quickly and accurately in a professional manner. To ensure the highest quality of service, it is essential to have a quiet and secure workspace. Notepads, writing utensils, glossaries, and dictionaries are highly recommended tools for success.

Candidate Qualifications:

• Fluency in English and Karenni
• Minimum 1 year interpretation experience preferred
• Excellent listening, retention and note taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Ability to explain certain cultural concepts to avoid miscommunication with permission or at the request of the client.

Technical Requirements:

• 90% English proficiency
• Steady wired internet connection
• USB wired headset
• Windows 10 or Mac

Your responsibilities:

• Answer calls professionally, acting according to the interpreter’s code of conduct
• Be aware of the specific vocabulary of the industry the interpreter works with (healthcare and medical, specifically)
• Go into internal professional training
• Communicate and report to your team leader
