We are currently seeking US-based American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to provide professional interpretation services between ASL and spoken English.

The interpreter will work with Deaf, DeafBlind, hard-of-hearing, and oral individuals across a variety of settings, helping ensure clear, accurate, and effective communication.

Candidate Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
• Minimum 1 year of interpreting experience preferred
• RID/CDI certification preferred
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the experiences and communication needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong written English skills
• Proficiency with computers, email, internet, electronic scheduling, and basic office applications
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to accurately convey concepts and meaning without omissions, additions, or personal interpretation
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and effective interpretation between ASL and spoken English
• Follow applicable national, state, and local licensing or certification requirements
• Adhere to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
• Complete required documentation, assignments, and administrative tasks accurately and on time
• Adapt quickly to new technologies, systems, and processes
• Work effectively in a fast-paced and regulated environment
• Communicate regularly with your Team Leader and follow operational guidelines
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Technical Requirements

• 90% English proficiency
• Windows 10+ or Mac
• Computer or laptop
• Reliable wired internet connection
• Minimum 20 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload
• Webcam
• USB wired headset
• Appropriate background for video interpretation — use a solid, contrasting color such as royal blue, charcoal, or bright green
